Habit Tracker

Habit Tracker

Track your daily habits, build streaks, and visualize your long-term progress with a monthly calendar heatmap.

What is Habit Tracker?

Habit Tracker helps you build and maintain positive daily routines. Create personalized habits with custom icons and colors, then check them off each day to build momentum.

The app tracks your streaks, calculates weekly completion rates, and displays your progress on a monthly calendar heatmap — giving you a clear visual picture of your consistency over time.

Who Is This For?

Habit Builders

Perfect for anyone building new habits — exercise, reading, meditation, or any daily goal you want to achieve.

Accountability Seekers

Visual streaks and heatmaps provide the motivation and accountability you need to stay consistent.

Minimalists

A focused tool without the clutter of full productivity suites — just what you need, nothing more.

How to Use Habit Tracker

1

Create Your Habits

Click the Add Habit button to create a new habit. Give it a name, choose an emoji icon and color, then select which days of the week you want to practice it.

Pro tip: Start with 2-3 habits to avoid overwhelming yourself. You can always add more as you build consistency.
2

Complete Your Daily Habits

Each day, check off your habits by clicking the checkbox or anywhere on the habit card. The progress circle updates in real time, showing how much of your daily routine is done.

3

Build Streaks

Every consecutive day you complete a habit adds to your streak counter. The streak respects your schedule — if you set a habit for weekdays only, weekends won't break your streak.

Streak power: Research shows that tracking streaks increases habit adherence by up to 40% by creating a visual commitment you don't want to break.
4

Track Your Progress

Use the calendar heatmap to see your monthly progress at a glance. Darker cells mean more habits completed that day. The statistics panel shows your best streak, weekly completion rate, and total check-ins.

Navigating Between Days

Use the arrow buttons to move between days and review your past completions. Click the date label to jump back to today instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose my data if I close the browser?

No. Your habits and completion history are saved in your browser's local storage and persist between sessions. However, clearing your browser data will remove them.

Important: Avoid clearing browser data or using incognito mode if you want to preserve your habit history long-term.

What happens to my streak on rest days?

Rest days (days not included in your habit's repeat schedule) are ignored by the streak counter. For example, if you set a habit for Mon-Fri, Saturday and Sunday won't break your streak.

This smart scheduling ensures your streak reflects actual commitment to your chosen days, not arbitrary calendar continuity.

Can I track habits from past days?

Yes. Use the arrow buttons next to the date to navigate to any past day and mark habits as completed or uncompleted.

This feature is perfect for catching up on forgotten check-ins or correcting accidental completions.

What do the calendar colors mean?

The calendar uses a heatmap with five intensity levels. Lighter green means fewer habits completed that day, while darker green means more. Days with no completions remain gray.

High Activity (Dark Green) 100%
Medium Activity 60%
Low Activity (Light Green) 20%

How is the weekly rate calculated?

The weekly rate counts all scheduled habit slots from the start of the current week (Sunday) through today, then calculates what percentage were completed.

Example: If you have 3 habits scheduled Monday-Friday, that's 15 total slots per week. Completing 12 of them gives you an 80% weekly rate.

Can I edit or delete a habit?

Yes. Hover over any habit card to reveal the edit and delete buttons on the right side. Editing lets you change the name, icon, color, and schedule. Deleting removes the habit and all its history permanently.

Warning: Deleting a habit cannot be undone. All completion history and streak data for that habit will be permanently lost.
