What Is an Ovulation Calculator?
An ovulation calculator predicts when you are most likely to ovulate during your menstrual cycle. Knowing your ovulation day helps you identify your fertile window — the period of time when conception is most likely to occur.
This tool uses the standard Luteal Phase method to estimate ovulation: the ovulation day is calculated by subtracting the luteal phase length from the total cycle length, counting from the first day of your last period.

How to Use the Calculator
Select Your Last Period
Choose the first day of your last period using the date picker. The calculator will immediately show your results.
Adjust Cycle Length
Use the slider to set your average menstrual cycle length (21–40 days). The default is 28 days.

Key Features
Ovulation Day & Fertile Window
The calculator shows your predicted ovulation day and the full fertile window — the 6-day range when pregnancy is possible. The ovulation day card shows the day of the week for quick reference.
3-Month Cycle Calendar
A color-coded calendar displays three consecutive months starting from your last period with visual indicators for menstrual days, fertile window, and ovulation.
- Red — Menstrual period days (first 5 days)
- Green — Fertile window (Planning mode)
- Purple — Ovulation day
- Red highlight — High-risk days (Contraception mode)
Fertility Probability Chart
A bar chart shows the estimated probability of conception for each day of your cycle. The chart peaks at 100% on ovulation day and drops off sharply on either side, helping you visualize the narrow window of peak fertility.
Two Planning Modes
Switch between modes based on your family planning goals:
- Planning Pregnancy — shows fertile days in green to help you time intercourse for the best chance of conception
- Natural Contraception — shows the same days in red to help you identify periods of risk when avoiding pregnancy
Conception Focus
- Fertile days highlighted in green
- Shows optimal timing for intercourse
- Maximizes conception probability
- Peak fertility clearly marked
Awareness Focus
- High-risk days highlighted in red
- Identifies periods requiring caution
- Supports natural family planning
- Enhanced awareness of fertile phase
Adjustable Parameters
Cycle length (21–40 days) and luteal phase (12–16 days) are both adjustable to account for individual variation. Results update instantly as you change the values, providing personalized predictions based on your unique cycle characteristics.
Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is this ovulation calculator?
The calculator provides an estimate based on average cycle patterns. It assumes ovulation occurs a fixed number of days before the next period (the luteal phase). In reality, ovulation can vary due to stress, illness, travel, or hormonal changes.
What is the luteal phase?
The luteal phase is the second half of your menstrual cycle, starting after ovulation and ending when your next period begins. It typically lasts 12–16 days and is relatively constant for each person, unlike the first half of the cycle which can vary.
Adjusting the luteal phase in Advanced Options allows for more personalized predictions based on your individual cycle pattern.
What is the fertile window?
The fertile window is the period during your cycle when pregnancy is possible. It spans 5 days before ovulation and 1 day after, for a total of 6-7 days.
- Sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days
- An egg is viable for only 12–24 hours after release
- The highest probability of conception occurs on the day before and day of ovulation
Can I use this for natural family planning?
This tool can support awareness-based natural family planning (NFP) methods, but it should not be relied upon as the sole method of contraception.
What if my cycle is irregular?
If your cycle length varies significantly from month to month, predictions will be less reliable. Use your average cycle length as the input. You can also adjust the luteal phase in Advanced Options if you know it.
For irregular cycles: Tracking multiple cycles over time and using additional fertility signs (basal body temperature, cervical mucus) will give you a more complete picture of your ovulation pattern.
Does this calculator store my data?
No. All calculations happen entirely in your browser. No dates, cycle information, or personal data of any kind are sent to any server or stored outside your device.
