Frequently Asked Questions
What is a recipe card?
A recipe card is a compact, visually appealing summary of a recipe that includes the dish name, photo, timing, ingredients, and cooking steps. Recipe cards are commonly used for sharing recipes online, printing for personal cookbooks, or gifting to friends and family.
What templates are available?
There are five templates: Classic for a traditional look, Modern for a clean and contemporary style, Minimal for simplicity, Elegant for a refined serif aesthetic, and Rustic for a warm, homey feel. You can switch between templates at any time without losing your content.
What card sizes can I choose?
Small (400px wide) works well for social media posts and thumbnails. Medium (600px) is the default and suits most uses. Large (800px) is ideal for printing or high-resolution displays. The size you select affects both the preview and the exported file.
How do ingredient groups work?
Groups let you categorize ingredients under labeled sections — for example, "Main Ingredients", "Sauce", and "Garnish". Each group has its own list that you can expand, collapse, rename, or delete. This helps keep complex recipes organized on the card.
What are cooking stages?
Stages divide your cooking instructions into logical phases, such as "Preparation", "Cooking", and "Assembly". Each stage contains its own numbered steps. For simple recipes, a single default stage works fine.
Where are my recipes saved?
Recipes are saved in your browser's local storage. They persist between sessions on the same device and browser. If you're logged in, your data also syncs to the server for access across devices. Use the Export All feature to create a JSON backup.
Can I transfer recipes to another device?
Yes. Click the Export All button to download all your recipes as a JSON file. On the other device, use the Import button to load the file. Each imported recipe gets a new unique ID to avoid conflicts.
What export formats are supported?
PNG produces a raster image suitable for sharing online or embedding in documents. PDF generates a printable document. Both formats capture the card exactly as it appears in the preview, including the selected template, accent color, and size.
Is my data private?
Yes. All processing happens in your browser. Recipe data, photos, and exports are handled locally on your device. No recipe content is transmitted to any server unless you are logged in and choose to sync.
