Run Multiple Stopwatches at Once
Multiple Stopwatch lets you run several independent stopwatches side by side in your browser, so you can time more than one thing at the same time. Each stopwatch starts, pauses, resets, and records laps on its own without touching the others.
That makes it ideal whenever a single timer is not enough — tracking several runners in a race, separate sets in a workout, different dishes while cooking, or parallel tasks during a work session. Name each stopwatch, color-code it, and keep everything organized in one place.
How to Use Multiple Stopwatch
Add your stopwatches
You start with three ready-to-use stopwatches. Click Add Stopwatch, use the + card in the grid, or press N to add as many as you need — or pick a Template to load a preset group instantly.
Name and color-code each one
Click a stopwatch's name field to rename it (for example "Runner 1" or "Warm-up"), then use the color button to assign one of six colors so you can tell them apart at a glance.
Start, pause, and record laps
Use each card's play/pause and reset buttons to control that stopwatch. While it runs, hit Lap to log a split time. Select a stopwatch and press Space to start or pause it, or L to record a lap.
Manage them all together
Use Start All, Pause All, Reset All, and Delete All to control every stopwatch at once. Switch between grid and list view, and open Settings to toggle milliseconds or sound effects.
Features
Multiple Independent Stopwatches
Run as many stopwatches as you need at the same time. Each one starts, pauses, resets, and laps on its own without affecting the rest.
Lap Recording with Analysis
Log split times while a stopwatch runs. Each lap shows its own duration and the total elapsed, with the fastest and slowest laps highlighted automatically.
Pre-built Templates
Load a ready-made group in one click: Workout, Study, Work, or Race — each adds named, color-coded stopwatches for that scenario.
Grid and List Views
Use grid view for full cards with controls and lap panels, or switch to a compact list view to manage many stopwatches at once.
Color Coding
Assign one of six colors to each stopwatch so you can quickly identify different people, teams, or activity types.
Global Controls
Start, pause, reset, or delete every stopwatch at once instead of touching each card one by one.
Millisecond Precision
Toggle a milliseconds display in settings for timing down to hundredths of a second when you need exact measurements.
Background Timing
Stopwatches keep counting accurately even when you switch tabs or apps, using real timestamps so no time is lost.
Auto-saved Locally
Your stopwatches, laps, and settings are saved to your browser automatically, so everything is right where you left it next visit.
Dark Mode Support
A built-in dark theme keeps colors and timers readable in any lighting condition.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I run multiple stopwatches at once?
Add a stopwatch for each thing you want to time, then start them whenever you need to. Every stopwatch runs independently, so they can be running, paused, or reset at the same time. To launch them together, use the Start All button.
Can I name or label each stopwatch?
Yes. Click the name field at the top of any stopwatch card and type a label such as "Runner 1", "Warm-up", or "Reading". You can also give each one a color to make it easier to spot.
How many stopwatches can I run at the same time?
There is no fixed limit — add as many as you need. Timing stays smooth even with many running at once, though most people work with a handful at a time for easy organization.
Do the stopwatches run independently?
Yes. Each stopwatch has its own timer and laps, so starting, pausing, or resetting one has no effect on the others. You can still control them all together with the global Start All, Pause All, and Reset All buttons.
Can I time multiple people or participants with one tool?
Yes — that is exactly what it is built for. Give each person their own named, color-coded stopwatch, or load the Race template to add several runner stopwatches instantly, then time everyone in parallel.
What do the green and red lap indicators mean?
Once a stopwatch has at least two laps, the tool marks the fastest lap in green and the slowest lap in red, so you can compare splits and spot your best and worst times without doing the math.
Do my stopwatches keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. Timing is based on real timestamps, so stopwatches stay accurate while you are on another tab or app. When you come back, every time is correctly updated with no drift.
Are my stopwatches saved, and is my data private?
Your stopwatches, laps, and settings are saved automatically to your browser's local storage, so they are restored next time you open the page. Nothing is uploaded to a server, which keeps your data private but means it does not sync across different devices or browsers.
Does it work on mobile, and is it free?
Yes. It runs free in any modern browser on phones, tablets, and computers — there is nothing to install or sign up for. On smaller screens, list view keeps many stopwatches compact and easy to manage.
