Browse a complete list of world time zones with abbreviations, UTC offsets, IANA identifiers, DST status, and live local time. Filter by country, region, or offset and export.
A Complete List of Time Zones in One Searchable Table
This time zone list shows every world time zone in a single, searchable table, with its abbreviation, UTC offset, IANA identifier, region, current local time, and Daylight Saving Time status. Look up what PST or GMT means, find a city's offset, or check which places change their clocks — all from one page.
It is built for remote workers coordinating with international teams, developers who need exact IANA identifiers, travelers crossing time zones, and anyone scheduling meetings across the globe. Search by city, country, abbreviation, or UTC offset and the table filters as you type.
Built on the IANA Time Zone Database — the same standard used by operating systems and programming languages — with current times calculated live and refreshed every minute.
How to Use the Time Zone List
1
Search for a time zone
Type a city like Tokyo, an abbreviation like PST, a country, or a UTC offset such as +7 or UTC-5. Results filter instantly, and no-space names like hochiminh work too.
2
Narrow it down with filters
Pick a Country, Region, UTC offset (from UTC-12 to UTC+14), or DST status. Combine filters with search, and reorder by offset, abbreviation, name, or region.
3
Jump to an offset
Use the Jump to bar to scroll straight to any UTC offset. The target row flashes briefly so you can spot it, and your own detected time zone is highlighted automatically.
4
Copy or export
Click Copy on any row to grab its IANA identifier, or open Export to copy and download the filtered list as a table, plain text, CSV, or JSON.
Features
Complete Time Zone Database
Every IANA time zone in one table, each with its abbreviation, UTC offset, full name, region, and live local time.
Country Filter
Pick any country to see only its time zones — handy for nations spanning several, such as the USA, Russia, or Australia.
Smart Search
Match by city name, no-space name, abbreviation (PST, GMT, ICT), or UTC offset — the table filters as you type.
Multiple Filters & Sorting
Filter by country, region, UTC offset, or DST status, then sort by offset, abbreviation, name, or region.
Quick Jump Navigation
A Jump-to bar lists every available UTC offset and scrolls you straight to the first time zone at that offset.
Live Time Display
Each row shows the current local time and updates automatically every minute — no page refresh needed.
DST Indicators
See at a glance whether Daylight Saving Time is active, supported but not active, or not observed at all.
One-Click Copy
Copy any time zone's IANA identifier — such as Asia/Ho_Chi_Minh — for use in code and configuration.
Export to Table, CSV, JSON
Export the filtered list as a tab-separated table for Excel or Sheets, plain text, CSV, or structured JSON.
Automatic Detection
Your browser's time zone is detected and highlighted in the table so it is easy to compare against others.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many time zones are there in the world?
While there are 24 main hourly offsets, the IANA database lists hundreds of distinct time zones once you count regional differences, half-hour and quarter-hour offsets, and separate Daylight Saving Time rules. This page lists them all, with UTC offsets ranging from UTC-12 to UTC+14.
What is a time zone abbreviation?
It is a short code, usually three or four letters, that names a time zone — for example PST (Pacific Standard Time, UTC-8), EST (Eastern Standard Time, UTC-5), GMT (Greenwich Mean Time, UTC+0), ICT (Indochina Time, UTC+7), or JST (Japan Standard Time, UTC+9). Some abbreviations are ambiguous: CST can mean Central, China, or Cuba Standard Time, so check the full name or IANA identifier when precision matters.
What does a UTC offset mean?
The UTC offset tells you how many hours a time zone is ahead of or behind Coordinated Universal Time. UTC+7 is seven hours ahead, UTC-5 is five hours behind, and UTC+0 matches UTC (London in winter). Some places use half- or quarter-hour offsets such as UTC+5:30 (India) or UTC+5:45 (Nepal).
What is the difference between UTC and GMT?
In everyday use they refer to the same time, UTC+0. GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is an older time-zone name still used in some regions, while UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the modern, precise atomic-clock standard from which every offset in this list is measured.
What is an IANA time zone identifier?
An IANA identifier is a unique name in the format Region/City, such as Asia/Ho_Chi_Minh or America/New_York. Unlike abbreviations, each identifier refers to exactly one zone and includes its historical rules, which makes it the reliable choice for programming and configuration. Click Copy on any row to grab one.
What is Daylight Saving Time (DST)?
DST is the practice of moving clocks forward by an hour in warmer months to extend evening daylight. Much of North America, Europe, and parts of Australia observe it, while most of Asia, Africa, and South America do not. When DST is active a zone's offset shifts temporarily — for example PST (UTC-8) becomes PDT (UTC-7). The DST column shows each zone's current status.
Why doesn't my search find a city?
The database uses English city names from the IANA standard. Try the English spelling (Ho Chi Minh rather than Hồ Chí Minh), search without spaces (hochiminh), filter by country, or look up the expected UTC offset instead.
Can I use this time zone data in my own application?
Yes. The data comes from the publicly available IANA Time Zone Database, the same source built into most languages (JavaScript's Intl API, Python's zoneinfo, PHP's DateTimeZone, and more). Use Export to download the visible list as CSV or JSON, or copy individual IANA identifiers straight from the table.
