How are the 12 zodiac sign dates decided?
The signs follow the Sun's yearly path through the zodiac, with each sign spanning about 30 days. This tool uses the most commonly accepted date boundaries, so the ranges match the standard Western (tropical) zodiac you'll see most often.
What if I was born on a cusp date?
A cusp is a transition day between two signs (for example, around March 20–21 between Pisces and Aries). The calculator assigns one sign per date using standard boundaries, but if you were born on a cusp you may relate to traits from both neighboring signs.
Is this based on the solar or lunar calendar?
The 12 zodiac signs here are Western sun signs, which follow the solar calendar — so enter your birthday from a standard (Gregorian) calendar. This is different from the Chinese zodiac, which tracks animal years on the lunar calendar.
What's the difference between a sun sign and a rising sign?
Your sun sign — the one this tool finds — comes from your birth date and reflects your core identity. A rising (ascendant) sign depends on the exact time and place of birth and shapes how you come across to others. This calculator works with sun signs only.
