What is Biorhythm?
Biorhythm theory suggests that our lives are influenced by three natural cycles that begin at birth and repeat in regular patterns throughout our lifetime. Each cycle follows a sine wave pattern, oscillating between positive (high) and negative (low) phases.
Physical Cycle
Affects strength, endurance, coordination, and overall physical well-being
Emotional Cycle
Influences mood, sensitivity, creativity, and emotional stability
Intellectual Cycle
Governs alertness, memory, analytical thinking, and learning ability
How Are Biorhythms Calculated?
The value for each cycle on any given day is calculated using a mathematical formula based on sine wave patterns:
sin(2π × days since birth ÷ cycle length)
This produces a value between -100% and +100%, where positive values indicate high periods and negative values indicate low periods.
How to Use
Follow these simple steps to calculate and explore your personal biorhythm chart:
Enter Your Birthday
Type your birth month, day, and year in the input fields. The cursor automatically advances as you type for quick entry.
Click Calculate
Press the Calculate button or hit Enter to generate your biorhythm chart and status cards instantly.
Read Your Status
Three cards show your current percentage and state (High, Above Average, Average, Below Average, Low, or Critical Day) for each cycle.
Explore the Chart
The interactive chart displays 31 days of data centered on your selected date. Hover over any point to see exact values for all three cycles.
Navigate Dates
Use the arrow buttons to move day by day, pick a specific date with the date picker, or click Today to return to the current date.
Understanding the Results
Your biorhythm values are interpreted based on their percentage ranges. Here's what each level means:
Peak performance in this area — optimal time for challenging activities and important decisions.
Favorable conditions — good time for productive work and positive outcomes.
Normal state — typical daily functioning with balanced energy.
Take extra care — be more cautious and avoid overexertion in this area.
Rest and recharge — ideal time for recovery, reflection, and lighter activities.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is biorhythm scientifically proven?
Biorhythm theory is not supported by scientific evidence. Most peer-reviewed studies have not found a reliable correlation between biorhythm cycles and real-world performance or outcomes.
What is a Critical Day?
A Critical Day occurs when a cycle crosses zero — the transition between positive and negative phases. According to biorhythm theory, these are days when you may feel less stable or more prone to errors in that particular area.
During critical days, biorhythm enthusiasts suggest:
- Being more mindful of your actions
- Avoiding high-risk activities if possible
- Taking extra precautions in the affected area
- Allowing more time for important tasks
Can multiple cycles be critical on the same day?
Yes, though it's relatively rare. When multiple cycles cross zero simultaneously, biorhythm enthusiasts call it a "double critical" or "triple critical" day.
| Type | Cycles Affected | Frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Single Critical | One cycle | Common |
| Double Critical | Two cycles | Uncommon |
| Triple Critical | All three cycles | Very Rare |
Why do the three cycles have different lengths?
The cycle lengths (23, 28, and 33 days) were proposed by Wilhelm Fliess in the late 1800s based on his observations and theories about human biological rhythms.
Original Cycles
Fliess proposed the 23-day physical and 28-day emotional cycles
Third Cycle Added
Alfred Teltscher added the 33-day intellectual cycle
Is my birthday data stored on a server?
