Times Table Trainer

Times Table Trainer

Practice and memorize multiplication tables with timed quizzes, a smart practice mode, and a mastery grid that tracks your progress.

Times Tables Practice That Actually Sticks

The Times Table Trainer gives you focused times tables practice for the multiplication facts from 1 to 12, with a reference grid, guided drills, timed quizzes, and a mastery tracker. It works for students meeting multiplication for the first time and for adults who want to rebuild quick mental math.

Rather than rereading a static chart, you answer live questions and get instant feedback, while a smart practice mode keeps steering you toward the facts you miss most. Your progress builds up over sessions so you always know which tables still need work.

Private by design: every question, answer, and statistic is handled in your browser and saved to its local storage. Nothing about your practice is ever uploaded to a server.

How to Use the Times Table Trainer

1

Explore the Reference table

Open the Reference tab to see the full 12×12 grid. Hover any cell to highlight its row and column, click a cell to pin that highlight, and use Hide Answers to blank the grid so you can self-test before revealing the result.

2

Drill in Practice mode

In the Practice tab, tap the numbered chips to pick the tables you want (2 through 12, or All), then Start Practice. Type each answer and press Enter or the submit button. Correct answers move on automatically; wrong ones show the right result first.

3

Test yourself in Quiz mode

In the Quiz tab, choose your tables, how many questions (10, 20, or 30), and a time limit (30s, 60s, 90s, or Unlimited), then Start Quiz. The quiz ends when you finish or time runs out, and you review your score, time, and any wrong answers.

4

Track your mastery

Open the Progress tab to see your mastery grid and stats. Each fact turns from gray to learning to green as your streak grows, and cards show your total answered, accuracy, and mastered facts. Use Reset Progress to start over.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I learn my times tables fast?

Short, frequent sessions beat one long cram. Start in Practice mode with two or three tables, let Smart Practice surface the facts you miss, and only widen your selection once those turn green on the mastery grid. A quick daily quiz keeps recall sharp.

What is the best way to practice multiplication tables?

Mix recall with testing. Use the Reference table with Hide Answers to self-check, drill weak facts in Practice mode, then prove it under light time pressure in a timed quiz. Active recall plus the trainer's repetition of hard facts is far more effective than rereading a chart.

Can adults practice times tables here too?

Yes. The trainer is plain and untimed unless you choose a quiz limit, so it suits adults rebuilding mental math just as much as students. Pick the tables you find shaky, set Unlimited time to remove pressure, and use Smart Practice to keep the focus on your weak spots.

What does Smart Practice do?

Smart Practice reads your mastery data and weights the questions. Around 70% target the facts you struggle with most, while 30% review ones you already know. Concentrating effort on weak facts makes practice more efficient than purely random questions.

How does the mastery system work?

Each fact tracks its own streak. Answer it correctly three times in a row to mark it as mastered, shown green on the grid. A single wrong answer resets that streak to zero, so a fact counts as mastered only when you can recall it reliably rather than guess it once.

Which multiplication tables are covered?

The Reference table shows the full 12×12 grid, covering every fact from 1×1 to 12×12. Practice and Quiz modes let you select tables from 2 through 12, since the 1 times table needs little drilling, which keeps your practice on the facts that matter most.

Is my progress saved, and can I reset it?

Yes. Mastery levels, totals, and best quiz scores are stored in your browser's local storage and persist between sessions on the same browser. To start fresh, open the Progress tab and use Reset Progress; a confirmation appears because the action cannot be undone.
