Create colorful sticky notes on a free-form canvas. Drag, resize, format text, color-code, and search to organize your thoughts visually.

Online Sticky Notes on a Free-Form Canvas

Online sticky notes give you a spatial workspace where you arrange ideas by dragging colorful notes anywhere on a board, instead of typing into a single flat list. Open the page, click Add Note, and start jotting — nothing to install and no sign-up to begin.

Each note supports rich text formatting, six color themes, drag-and-drop placement, and free resizing, so you can brainstorm, plan tasks, or keep quick reminders and still see everything at a glance. Search and color filters help you find any note in seconds, even on a busy board.

Private by design: your notes are saved in your own browser's local storage, never uploaded for guests. If you sign in, you can opt to sync them to your account so they follow you across devices.

How to Use Sticky Notes

1

Add a note

Click Add Note in the toolbar. A new note appears in a random color at the first open spot that doesn't overlap existing notes, with the title field focused so you can type right away.

2

Write and format

Click the title to name the note, then click the body to write. Hover over a note to reveal the format toolbar for Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, bullet and numbered lists, and text colors.

3

Pick a color

Click the small color dot to the left of the title to open the picker, then choose one of six colors. The note's background, accent bar, and indicator update instantly so you can color-code by topic or priority.

4

Arrange the board

Drag a note by its title bar to reposition it, and drag the bottom-right handle to resize. Hold right-click and drag to pan a board that's larger than the screen. Position and size save automatically.

Features

Free-Form Canvas

Place notes anywhere on a drag-and-drop board, not locked into a grid. The board auto-expands as you move notes toward its edges.

Resizable Notes

Drag the bottom-right corner handle to resize any note. A minimum size keeps notes readable so text never gets squeezed.

Six Color Themes

Choose yellow, pink, blue, green, purple, or orange. Each color sets a matching background, left accent bar, and indicator dot.

Rich Text Formatting

Apply bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough from a floating toolbar that appears on hover, keeping the interface uncluttered.

Bullet & Numbered Lists

Turn note content into structured bullet or numbered lists for checklists, steps, or grouped ideas.

Text Colors

Highlight key words in red, blue, green, orange, or purple, or clear back to the default color in one click.

Search & Color Filter

Search by title or content and filter the board by color. A counter shows how many notes match out of the total.

Right-Click Pan

When the board extends past the screen, hold right-click and drag to pan across it in any direction.

Smart Positioning

New notes drop into the first available spot that doesn't overlap existing notes, so nothing lands on top of your work.

Full-Width Layout

On wide screens, toggle between standard and full-width layouts to give your board more canvas room.

Auto-Save

Every edit, move, resize, and color change is saved automatically to your browser, so notes persist across reloads.

Dark Mode & Touch

A tuned dark theme is built in, and you can drag and resize notes with touch gestures on phones and tablets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are online sticky notes?

They are digital versions of paper sticky notes that live on a board in your browser. Instead of sticking them to a wall, you drag colorful notes around a free-form canvas, resize them, and format the text — all without installing anything.

Are these sticky notes free, and do I need to sign up?

Yes, the tool is free and you can start using it immediately with no account. Signing in is optional — it simply lets you sync your notes to your account so they're available on other devices.

Where are my notes saved?

Notes save to your browser's local storage and persist across reloads and sessions. As a guest they stay on that one browser and device; if you sign in, they can also sync to your account. Clearing your browser data removes the locally stored copy.

Can I format the text in my notes?

Yes. Hover over a note to reveal the format toolbar, select your text, then apply bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, bullet or numbered lists, and text colors. Content pasted from other sources is cleaned to keep only safe formatting.

How do I scroll a board that's bigger than the screen?

Hold the right mouse button and drag to pan the board in any direction. You can also use the browser scrollbars that appear once notes extend beyond the visible area.

Why do new notes appear in random colors?

Each new note is assigned a random color from the six themes to add variety. To change it, click the color dot next to the title and pick the color you want.

Is there a limit to how many notes I can create?

There's no hard limit. Because data is kept in browser local storage, a very large number of notes with extensive content can eventually approach the browser's storage cap (typically a few megabytes), but most boards stay well within it.

Why can't I see the full-width toggle?

The full-width layout toggle only appears on wide screens. On narrower screens the standard layout is used automatically, so the toggle is hidden.
