Frequently Asked Questions
Where are my notes stored?
By default, notes are stored in your browser's local storage. This means they persist between sessions on the same browser and device. If you want to access your notes from multiple devices, enable Cloud Sync in the storage settings.
Will I lose my notes if I clear my browser data?
If you're using browser storage, clearing your browser data or cookies will remove your saved notes. To prevent this, enable Cloud Sync so your notes are backed up to the server.
Can I use markdown and rich text in the same note?
Each note uses one editor mode at a time. When you switch modes, the content is automatically converted. For example, switching from Rich Text to Markdown converts your formatted content into markdown syntax.
What markdown features are supported?
The markdown editor supports a comprehensive set of features:
- Headings (H1-H6)
- Bold, italic, and inline code
- Code blocks with syntax highlighting
- Links and images
- Unordered and ordered lists
- Blockquotes
- Horizontal rules
The live preview shows exactly how your markdown will render.
How does auto-save work?
Changes are saved automatically 800 milliseconds after you stop typing. You'll see a "Saving..." indicator followed by "Saved" (or "Synced" for cloud storage) to confirm your data has been stored.
Do I need an account to use this tool?
No. You can use the notepad immediately with browser storage, no account required. An account is only needed if you want to enable cloud sync to access your notes across devices.
What file formats can I export?
The export format depends on your current editor mode:
- Rich Text exports as .html
- Markdown exports as .md
- Plain Text exports as .txt
The exported file uses your note's title as the filename.
