Write and Save Notes in This Online Notepad
This online notepad gives you a fast, reliable place to write, organize, and keep multiple notes right in your browser. Pick the editor that fits how you work — rich text, Markdown, or plain text — and every change is saved automatically as you type.
Open as many notes as you need in the sidebar, search across them by title or content, and export any note as an HTML, Markdown, or plain text file. It is built for students taking lecture notes, developers jotting Markdown snippets, writers drafting content, and anyone who wants a quick notepad with no software to install.
How to Use the Online Notepad
Start writing
A blank note opens automatically. Type your text in the editor and add a title in the field at the top. Your note is saved as you go — no Save button to press.
Pick an editor mode
Use the tabs above the editor to switch between Rich Text, Markdown, and Plain Text. In Markdown, tap Preview to see the rendered result side by side. Content is converted automatically when you switch.
Manage multiple notes
Tap New Note in the sidebar to add another note, click any note to open it, and use the Search notes box to filter by title or content. Remove a note with its trash icon.
Export or copy
Use Export to download the current note as .html, .md, or .txt (matching the editor mode), or use Copy Content to put the plain text on your clipboard.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this online notepad free, and do I need to sign up?
Yes, it is free and you can start writing right away with no account. Browser storage works with no login. An account is only needed if you want to turn on Cloud Sync to reach your notes from other devices.
Where are my notes saved, and do they autosave?
By default your notes are saved in your browser's local storage, so they stay on the same browser and device between sessions. Saving is automatic — about 800 milliseconds after you stop typing, the status shows "Saving..." then "Saved" (or "Synced" when Cloud Sync is on).
Are my notes private and stored only in my browser?
With the default Browser storage, all editing happens locally and nothing is uploaded — your note content is not sent to a server and is not analyzed. Only if you choose to enable Cloud Sync are your notes saved to the server so they can travel between your devices.
Will I lose my notes if I clear my browser data?
If you are using Browser storage, clearing your browser data or cookies will remove the saved notes on that browser. To keep a backup that survives this, enable Cloud Sync so your notes are stored on the server too.
Can I export my notes to a file?
Yes. The Export button downloads the current note in a format that matches its editor mode: Rich Text exports as .html, Markdown exports as .md, and Plain Text exports as .txt. The file is named after the note's title. You can also copy the plain text to your clipboard.
Can I use Markdown and rich text in the same note?
Each note uses one editor mode at a time. When you switch modes, the content is converted automatically — for example, switching from Rich Text to Markdown turns your formatted content into Markdown syntax.
What Markdown features are supported?
The Markdown editor supports headings, bold, italic, inline code, code blocks, links, images, unordered lists, blockquotes, and horizontal rules. Toggle Preview to see exactly how your Markdown will render in a split view.
