Event QR Code Generator
An event QR code encodes a calendar entry in the iCalendar (VEVENT) format. When scanned, it prompts the user to add the event straight to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, or any calendar app that supports the standard. One scan, one tap — the event lands in the attendee's calendar with the correct name, time, location, and description already filled in.

How to Create an Event QR Code
Enter the Event Name
Type the name as you want it to appear in the recipient's calendar. This becomes the event title (the SUMMARY field in iCalendar format).
Set the Date and Time
Enter the start date and time. Add an end time too — most calendar apps show the duration when both are present. For all-day events, set start and end to the same date without a time.
Add Location & Description (Optional)
The location appears in the calendar event and can drive navigation from the calendar app. The description supports plain text — use it for agenda items, instructions, or a link to an event page.
Customize & Download
Open Customize to apply brand colors, dot styles, or a logo. Then download as PNG, SVG, or JPG and add it to invitations, flyers, or presentations.
Features
iCalendar (VEVENT) Format
The QR code encodes a standard iCalendar VEVENT. This format is supported by all major calendar applications — Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, and any app that handles .ics files.
| iCalendar Field | Maps To |
|---|---|
SUMMARY | Event name / title |
DTSTART / DTEND | Start and end date/time (UTC) |
LOCATION | Venue or meeting link |

What You Can Encode
One-Tap Save
Scanning opens a native "Add to Calendar" prompt. The user reviews and confirms — no manual entry, no form, no typing.
Universal Compatibility
The iCalendar format is the standard since 1998. Every modern calendar app can add events from a VEVENT string.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which calendar apps support this QR code?
Any app that supports the iCalendar standard can read the event — including Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Fantastical, and Thunderbird. That covers virtually all calendar apps in use.
Does the event include timezone information?
The event is encoded in UTC. Calendar apps automatically convert UTC to the user's local timezone when displaying it. If your event is at 2:00 PM EST, enter the UTC equivalent (7:00 PM UTC).
Can I create an all-day event?
Yes. Set the start date without a specific time and do the same for the end date. The iCalendar format treats date-only entries as all-day events, and calendar apps show them in the all-day row.
Does it support recurring events?
The current version generates single-occurrence events. Recurring events use the RRULE field, which is not yet supported. For recurring events, a URL QR code linking to a calendar subscription is a practical alternative.
What should I put in the location field?
You can enter a street address, building name, room number, or a meeting URL for virtual events. Google Calendar and Apple Calendar show a map link when the location contains a recognizable address.
Why doesn't a calendar app open when I scan?
Some QR scanner apps treat VEVENT data as plain text rather than a calendar entry. Use the device's native camera app on iOS or Google Lens on Android for the most reliable experience.
