How to Use
Choose Your Marketplace
Select the marketplace you sell on from the navigation tabs at the top. Each marketplace loads its specific fee structure and categories automatically.
Enter Your Numbers

- Product Cost — Your cost to acquire or manufacture the product
- Shipping Cost — Your cost to ship the item to the customer (or to Amazon's warehouse for FBA)

Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate are the fee rates?
The fee rates are based on the latest published fee schedules from each marketplace (updated for 2025–2026). Amazon referral fees reflect tiered pricing introduced in 2024. eBay rates include the February 2025 fee increase. Etsy and Shopify rates reflect current published rates.
Why does Amazon have tiered categories like "Clothing (≤$15)" and "Clothing (>$20)"?
Amazon uses price-based tiered referral fees for certain categories. For example, Clothing items are charged different rates based on selling price:
- $15 or below: 5% referral fee
- $15–$20: 10% referral fee
- Over $20: 17% referral fee
Select the tier that matches your product's selling price for accurate results.
What is the $1.80 closing fee for Amazon media items?
Amazon charges an additional $1.80 per-item closing fee on all media categories including:
- Books
- Music & DVD
- Video Games
- Software
This fee is charged on top of the referral fee and applies to both FBA and FBM (Fulfilled by Merchant) sellers.
Why is eBay's per-order fee $0.40 instead of $0.30?
As of February 2025, eBay charges:
$0.30 per order
- Lower fee for small transactions
$0.40 per order
- Standard fee (calculator default)
Since most eBay transactions exceed $10, the calculator defaults to $0.40. You can adjust this in Fee Settings if needed.
What happened to the "Shopify Plan"?
Shopify renamed their mid-tier plan from "Shopify" to "Grow". The calculator reflects this change with the current plan names:
- Basic — Entry-level plan
- Grow — Mid-tier plan (formerly "Shopify")
- Advanced — Advanced features
- Plus — Enterprise solution
Why do Shopify payment rates change when I select a different plan?
Shopify Payments processing rates vary by plan. When you select a plan, the calculator automatically adjusts the payment processing rate:
| Plan | Processing Rate | Fixed Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 2.9% | $0.30 |
| Grow | 2.7% | $0.30 |
| Advanced | 2.5% | $0.30 |
| Plus | 2.15% | $0.30 |
How is ROI calculated?
ROI (Return on Investment) is calculated using this formula:
It shows the percentage return on your total investment in acquiring and shipping the product. A positive ROI indicates profit, while a negative ROI indicates a loss.
Can I account for Etsy's Offsite Ads fee?
Yes. Etsy charges an Offsite Ads fee on sales generated from offsite advertising clicks:
- 15% — Standard rate for most shops
- 12% — Reduced rate for shops over $10K annual revenue
Enter this fee in the "Offsite Ads Fee" field under Fee Settings. The default is $0 since this fee only applies to specific sales driven by Etsy's advertising.
