Random Country & City

Random Country & City

Random country generator that picks a random country or city, filters by continent, and shows the flag, capital, population, area, currency and map.

Random Country Generator to Explore the World

This random country generator picks a random country for you in a single click, then shows its flag, capital, population, area, currency and an embedded map. Press the button — or just hit the space bar — and a real place appears, ready to explore.

Switch to City mode to pull a random city instead, narrow countries to one continent, or draw cities from a country you choose. Generate one result or up to ten at once, and your recent picks are kept in a history you can revisit.

Private by design: place data is loaded from this site's own geography service and the map tiles come from OpenStreetMap. Your generated history and settings stay only in your browser — they are never uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the random country generator work?

The tool shuffles its list of countries and draws one (or several) at random, then loads the full details for each pick. Click Generate or press the space bar and a random country appears with its flag, capital and key facts — nothing to install or sign up for.

Can I pick a random country by continent?

Yes. In Country mode, tap a continent chip — Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America or Oceania — and only countries from that region are drawn. Leave it on All to include the whole world.

Does it show the country's flag and details?

Yes. Each country card shows the flag, native name, region, capital, population, area and currency, along with an embedded map. City cards show the country, population and exact coordinates.

How do I get a random city?

Switch to City mode and generate. By default it picks a random country first and then a city within it. To draw cities from one place, choose a From Country before generating.

Can I generate more than one place at a time?

Yes. Use the counter beside the Generate button to ask for anywhere from 1 to 10 results, and they all appear together as separate cards.

Is it good for travel ideas or geography quizzes?

It works well for both. Use it to spark travel inspiration, set a random bucket-list destination, pick a country for a quiz or class, or just learn about a place you have never heard of. The Maps and Wikipedia links make it easy to dig deeper.

Is my generated history private?

Yes. Your recent picks are stored only in your own browser, never sent to a server, and you can wipe them with the Clear button at any time. The place data itself is loaded from this site's geography service and the maps from OpenStreetMap.
