Will an amount like six sixteenths come back reduced?
Yes — reducing happens before anything is displayed, so you never see 6/16 in the field. The top and bottom of the result are divided by their greatest common divisor, which for 6 and 16 is 2, giving 3/8. The same pass turns 50/100 into 1/2 and 20/25 into 4/5. There is no setting for it and no way to view the unreduced form; lowest terms is simply what the field shows.
What does 1.75 look like in the fraction field?
It comes back as 1 3/4 — the whole part first, a space, then the remaining fraction. Every result above one is written that way rather than as the top-heavy 7/4, because that is the form a recipe would use. A quantity like 2.5 cups reads as 2 1/2.
My calculator writes 0,375 with a comma. Will that go in?
No — the input accepts digits, a full stop and a minus sign, and the comma key is filtered out as you press it. If your phone keypad or spreadsheet locale produces a comma, retype the number with a full stop: 0.375. Nothing is lost, and it avoids the ambiguity of a comma meaning a thousands separator in some recipe sources.
The result says 4/25 of a cup. How do I measure that?
You do not, in that form. A decimal such as 0.16 has no friendly cup equivalent, so the honest answer is 4/25 and the practical answer is to work in spoons instead: 0.16 of a cup is about 2½ tablespoons. Whenever a fraction comes back with a denominator you have never seen stamped on a measure, multiply the original decimal by 16 to get tablespoons and round to the nearest half spoon.
