Fraction Converter

Fraction Converter

Convert a fraction to a decimal or percent and back. Results simplify automatically and show as mixed numbers when above one.

Convert a Fraction to a Decimal, Percent, or Back

Turn a fraction into a decimal in one step, then read the percent in the same place. Type a value in any of the three formats and this fraction converter instantly shows the matching decimal, fraction, and percentage side by side.

It is built for everyday number work — homework, recipes, measurements, discounts, and stats — where you have one format but need another. Fractions are reduced to lowest terms automatically, and results greater than one are shown as mixed numbers so they are easy to read.

Private by design: every conversion runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, saved, or tracked.

How to Convert a Fraction to a Decimal

1

Pick the input format

Use the format tabs to choose what you are typing: DEC for a decimal, FRAC for a fraction, or PCT for a percentage.

2

Enter your value

Type your number — for example 0.75 on DEC, 3/4 on FRAC, or 75 on PCT. The conversion updates as you type; there is no button to press.

3

Read all three results

The decimal, fraction, and percent appear together. The row matching your input format is highlighted as the source so you can see what came from where.

4

Copy what you need

Click the copy icon on any row to copy a single result, or use Copy All Results to grab all three at once. Press Esc or the clear button to start over.

Features

Instant Three-Way Conversion

Enter a value in any one format and see the decimal, fraction, and percent equivalents update live as you type.

Automatic Fraction Simplification

Results are reduced to lowest terms using the greatest common divisor, so 0.75 becomes 3/4 and 50% becomes 1/2.

Mixed Number Display

Values above one are shown as mixed numbers for easy reading — 1.5 displays as 1 1/2 and 150% as 1 1/2.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a fraction to a decimal?

Select the FRAC tab, type your fraction such as 3/4, and read the decimal in the results — 3/4 becomes 0.75. A fraction is simply the numerator divided by the denominator, and the converter does that division for you instantly.

How do I convert a fraction to a percent?

Enter the fraction on the FRAC tab and look at the Percent row. A percent is the decimal value times 100, so 3/4 (0.75) shows as 75%. To go the other way, type the number on the PCT tab.

What is 3/4 as a decimal?

3/4 equals 0.75 as a decimal and 75% as a percent. You can confirm any value like this by typing it on the FRAC tab, or check it against the Common Fractions reference table.

How do I convert a decimal back to a fraction?

Choose the DEC tab, type a decimal such as 0.625, and read the Fraction row — it returns 5/8 already reduced to lowest terms. Decimals above one are shown as mixed numbers, so 1.5 becomes 1 1/2.

Do I need to simplify the fraction first?

No. The converter simplifies for you using the greatest common divisor, so 50/100 comes back as 1/2 and 75/100 as 3/4. You always get the result in its lowest terms.

Why does 1/3 show as 0.333... with dots?

Some fractions produce a repeating, or recurring, decimal that never ends exactly. The trailing dots mean the digits keep repeating, so the value is rounded for display. In practice you can round to whatever precision your task needs.

Can I convert negative numbers?

Yes, on the DEC and PCT tabs. Add a minus sign before the number — for example -0.5 converts to -1/2 and -50%.

Is my data saved anywhere?

No. Every calculation happens in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to a server, stored, or tracked.
