Calculator

An online calculator with standard and scientific modes. Handles trigonometry, logarithms, powers, percentages, and parentheses, with live results, history, and keyboard support.

Online Calculator with Standard and Scientific Modes

This online calculator runs entirely in your browser and switches between a clean Standard keypad for everyday math and a full Scientific keypad for trigonometry, logarithms, powers, and roots. There is nothing to install and no sign-up — open the page and start calculating.

It is built for students checking homework, professionals running quick figures, and anyone who needs a dependable calculator on a phone, tablet, or desktop. As you type, the result updates live, your calculations are saved to a history list, and a settings panel lets you tune the number format to match how you write numbers.

Private by design: every calculation happens in your browser. Your history and settings are stored locally on your device; if you are signed in, they sync to your account so they follow you across devices.

How to Use the Calculator

1

Pick a mode

Choose Standard for arithmetic, percentages, and parentheses, or Scientific to unlock trigonometry, logarithms, roots, powers, factorials, and the constants π and e. Your last mode is remembered for next time.

2

Enter your calculation

Tap the keys or type on your keyboard. Combine numbers, operators (+, -, ×, ÷), and parentheses for longer expressions; the running result previews live above the keypad as you go.

3

Add functions when you need them

In Scientific mode, apply sin, cos, tan, log, ln, or √ to your value, square or cube it, raise it to any power with xʸ, or take a factorial with n!. Insert π or e with a single tap.

4

Get the result and reuse it

Press = or Enter to finish. The calculation is saved to history — open the history panel and tap any entry to load it back and keep working from there.

Features

Standard and Scientific Modes

Switch between a simple arithmetic keypad and a full scientific layout with trigonometry, logarithms, roots, powers, factorials, and constants. Your chosen mode is remembered.

Scientific Functions

Compute sin, cos, and tan in degrees, base-10 log and natural ln, square root, x², x³, any power with xʸ, factorials, and the constants π and e.

Percentages and Parentheses

Use the % key for share-of-total math like 200 + 10% and group operations with parentheses to control the order of evaluation.

Live Result Preview

See the answer update in real time as you build an expression, with automatic thousands separators and a clear error message for invalid math like dividing by zero.

Calculation History

The last 50 calculations are saved automatically. Tap any entry to reload it, delete single items, or clear the whole list at once.

Editable Expression

Click within an expression or use the arrow keys to move the cursor and edit any part of it — no need to clear and start over. Pasting a calculation works too.

Number in Words

An optional line spells out the current result in words, so you can read large numbers at a glance and double-check the magnitude.

Format Settings

Open Settings to choose comma or dot as the decimal separator, toggle the number-in-words line, and turn haptic feedback on or off.

Full Keyboard Support

Type digits and operators directly, press Enter to calculate, Backspace to delete, and Escape to clear — ideal if you prefer keys over taps.

Responsive and Dark Mode

Large, tappable buttons adapt to phones, tablets, and desktops, and a built-in dark theme keeps the keypad comfortable in any light.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I switch between standard and scientific mode?

Use the Standard and Scientific tabs at the top of the calculator. Standard shows a basic arithmetic keypad, while Scientific adds trigonometry, logarithms, roots, powers, factorials, and the constants π and e. Your last choice is saved automatically.

How do I use the percent (%) key?

On its own, % divides the current number by 100, so 50% becomes 0.5. After an operator it works on the running total: enter 200 + 10% and the calculator adds 10% of 200, giving 220. This makes tips, discounts, and tax quick to figure out.

How do I calculate a square root or a power?

Switch to Scientific mode. Tap √ to take the square root of the current value, x² to square it, or x³ to cube it. For any exponent, enter the base, press xʸ, type the power, and press =. For example, 2 xʸ 8 = returns 256.

Do the trigonometric functions use degrees or radians?

sin, cos, and tan take angles in degrees. The calculator converts to radians internally, so sin(30) correctly returns 0.5 without any extra steps.

Can I use my keyboard to enter calculations?

Yes. Type the digits and the operators + - * /, use ( and ) for grouping, press Enter or = to calculate, Backspace to delete the last character, and Escape to clear everything. You can also click inside an expression or use the arrow keys to edit it.

How many calculations does the history store, and where?

History keeps your 50 most recent calculations; older entries drop off as new ones are added. It is saved in your browser, so it stays between sessions on the same device and browser. If you are signed in, it also syncs to your account so it is available on your other devices. Tap an entry to reload it, or use the clear button to wipe the list.

Can I change the decimal separator to a dot or comma?

Yes. Open the Settings panel and choose comma (1.234,56) or dot (1,234.56) as the decimal separator. The same panel lets you toggle the number-in-words line and haptic feedback. Your preferences are remembered for next time.

How accurate are the results?

Calculations use your browser's double-precision floating-point math, which is accurate to roughly 15–17 significant digits — more than enough for everyday, academic, and most professional work. Very large or very small results are shown in scientific notation, and invalid operations such as dividing by zero return a clear error.

Does the calculator work on mobile?

Yes. The layout adapts to phones and tablets with large, easy-to-tap buttons, the history panel collapses to save space, and optional haptic feedback gives a gentle tap on each press. A dark theme is built in for comfortable use in low light.
