Pet Vaccination Schedule

Pet Vaccination Schedule

Generate a personalized vaccination schedule for your dog or cat from a single date of birth, with core and non-core shots organized by life stage and lifestyle.

Pet Vaccination Schedule for Dogs & Cats

This pet vaccination schedule builds a personalized timeline of shots for your dog or cat from a single date of birth. Pick the pet type, enter the birthday, and choose a lifestyle to see exactly which vaccines are due and when.

The schedule covers every life stage — the initial puppy or kitten series, the first-year boosters, and the recurring adult shots — and layers in non-core vaccines based on whether your pet lives indoors, has a mixed routine, or spends time outdoors. It is built for new puppy and kitten owners, anyone adopting an adult pet, and owners who just want a clear at-a-glance tracker of what has been done and what is coming up.

Private by design: everything is calculated in your browser. Your pet's type, birthday, lifestyle, and completed shots are saved locally on your device and are never uploaded to a server.

How to Use the Vaccination Schedule

1

Select pet type

Choose Dog or Cat. The vaccine list and life-stage labels adjust automatically — puppy series for dogs, kitten series for cats.

2

Enter date of birth

Pick your pet's Date of Birth. Each vaccine date is calculated from the recommended age in weeks, so the whole timeline appears at once.

3

Choose a lifestyle

Select Indoor, Mixed, or Outdoor. This decides which non-core vaccines are recommended — indoor pets see core shots only, while mixed and outdoor pets get added protection.

4

Review by life stage

Read the schedule grouped into the puppy/kitten series, first-year booster, and adult recurring shots. Each card shows the vaccine name, what it covers, the recommended date, and a status badge.

5

Track your progress

Tick the checkbox on any shot your pet has received. The summary cards and progress bar at the top update instantly to show what is overdue, due soon, upcoming, and completed.

Understanding vaccine status

  • Overdue — the recommended date passed more than 14 days ago.
  • Due Now — the recommended date passed within the last 14 days.
  • Due Soon — the recommended date is within the next 14 days.
  • Upcoming — the recommended date is more than 14 days away.
  • Completed — you have ticked the vaccine as done.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do puppies and kittens start vaccinations?

The core series usually begins at around 6–8 weeks of age and continues with doses spaced a few weeks apart until roughly 16 weeks. In this tool the puppy and kitten series spans 6–16 weeks, with the first DHPP or FVRCP dose calculated near 7 weeks from the birthday you enter.

What are the core vaccines for dogs and cats?

Core vaccines are considered essential for every pet. For dogs that is DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus) and Rabies. For cats it is FVRCP (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia), FeLV (Feline Leukemia), and Rabies. Non-core vaccines, by contrast, depend on lifestyle and risk.

When is the first rabies shot given?

Rabies is typically given around 14–16 weeks of age, and it is required by law in most areas. This schedule places the first rabies dose at about 14 weeks from the date of birth, followed by a first-year booster and recurring boosters every 1–3 years.

Why do some vaccines need multiple doses?

Puppies and kittens carry maternal antibodies that fade over time. A series of doses, usually every few weeks until about 16 weeks, makes sure the vaccine takes effect once that maternal immunity wears off. Later booster shots maintain long-term protection.

Do indoor cats and dogs still need vaccines?

Yes — core vaccines are recommended regardless of lifestyle. When you set the lifestyle to Indoor, the tool shows the core shots only and hides non-core vaccines. Mixed pets that go out occasionally and Outdoor pets see progressively more non-core recommendations, since outdoor exposure raises the risk.

My pet is already an adult. Can I still use this?

Yes. Enter the actual date of birth and the tool calculates every dose date. Past shots simply show as Overdue — tick the boxes for any vaccines your pet has already received so the progress tracker reflects the real picture.

How accurate is this schedule?

It follows widely accepted veterinary guidelines, in line with AAHA and AAFP recommendations. Individual pets can differ based on health, breed, or local regulations, so this schedule is a reference only — always confirm the right vaccination plan with your veterinarian.

Is my data saved when I close the browser?

Yes. Your pet type, date of birth, lifestyle, and completed shots are stored locally in your browser and persist across sessions. Nothing is sent to any server, so the data stays on your own device.
