What Is the Video Trimmer?
The Video Trimmer lets you cut a video down to just the part you want — pick a start point and an end point, preview the result, and export the trimmed clip. Everything runs inside your browser, so you can shorten a clip without installing software or waiting for an upload.
It is built for the common "I only need this section" task: removing dead air at the beginning, cutting to a highlight, or grabbing a short clip out of a longer recording. A filmstrip timeline shows thumbnails across the whole video, and two draggable handles mark the range you keep.
Your Data Stays Private
All processing happens entirely in your browser — your video file never leaves your device:
No Uploads
The video is opened from a local link on your device and never sent to a server.
No Tracking
The tool does not collect your files or usage data of any kind.
Works Offline
Once the page has loaded, no internet connection is required to trim your video.

How to Trim a Video
Load Your Video
Drag a video file onto the upload area, or click it to browse your device. The tool accepts the formats your browser can decode, including MP4, WebM, and MOV. Once loaded, you will see the player, the file details (dimensions, duration, and size), and the timeline.
Set the Start and End
There are three ways to mark the range you want to keep:
- Drag the handles on the timeline — the left handle sets the start, the right handle sets the end. The area outside your selection is dimmed.
- Type exact times in the Start and End boxes (for example
0:05.0or12.5), then press Enter. - Use the crosshair buttons next to each box, or press I / O, to snap the start or end to the current playhead position.
Preview the Cut
Press play (or Space) to watch your selection. With Loop selection on, playback repeats within the chosen range so you can check the in and out points. Drag anywhere on the timeline to scrub the playhead, or use , and . to step a single frame for a precise cut. The Selection readout shows the length of the trimmed clip.
Choose Export Options
- Remove audio — tick this to export a silent clip; leave it off to keep the original sound.
- Quality — pick High, Medium, or Low to control the output bitrate and file size.
Export and Download
Click Trim & Export. The clip plays through once while it records, with a progress bar — you can cancel at any time. When it finishes, the result shows the file name, size, and length. Click Download to save it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The video is opened from a local link on your device and processed entirely in your browser. It is never sent to a server, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
What video formats can I trim?
Any format your browser can decode, which commonly includes MP4, WebM, and MOV. If a file cannot be opened, your browser does not support that format and you will see a message to that effect.
What format is the exported file?
The tool exports MP4 when your browser supports recording MP4 (Chrome and Edge), and falls back to WebM otherwise (Firefox). The badge near the export options shows which format you will get.
Why does exporting take as long as the clip?
Export re-encodes the selected range in real time using the browser's built-in recorder — the clip plays through once while it records. A 30-second selection therefore takes about 30 seconds to export. Keep the tab open and in the foreground while it runs.
The export button is disabled — why?
Exporting requires a browser that can capture video frames from a media element. Safari and iOS do not support this feature, so on those browsers you can still load, preview, and set your trim range — but you will need Chrome, Edge, or Firefox to export the file.
Can I remove the sound from my clip?
Yes. Tick Remove audio before exporting to produce a silent clip. Leave it unticked to keep the original audio. Note that the preview mute button only affects what you hear while previewing — it does not change the exported audio.
Is the cut frame-accurate?
You can position the start and end down to a fraction of a second using the time boxes and the frame-step keys (, and .). Because export re-encodes the range, the output starts and ends close to the points you set rather than being limited to keyframes.
Does it work on my phone?
Loading, previewing, and setting the trim range all work on mobile browsers, and the handles are sized for touch. Exporting depends on the browser — on Android Chrome it works, while iOS does not support the required capture feature.
