Starfield / Space Fly

Starfield / Space Fly

Fly through a 3D starfield screensaver with adjustable speed, density, and colors. Steer with your mouse, keyboard, or touch and warp through space.

Starfield Screensaver: Fly Through Space in Your Browser

This starfield screensaver turns your screen into an endless field of stars streaming toward you at warp speed. Stars are drawn in true 3D, so distant ones stay small and dim while nearby ones grow large and bright, giving a real sense of flying through space.

It is the classic "flying through space" effect, reimagined to run online with no download. Steer the flight with your mouse, keyboard, or touch, dial up the speed from a gentle drift to full hyperspace, and leave it idle to use as an ambient screensaver.

Private by design: the whole simulation runs in your browser, and your settings are saved only in your browser's local storage. Nothing is ever uploaded to a server.

How to Use the Starfield

1

Steer the flight

Move your mouse to aim the vanishing point, so the stars stream toward wherever you point. You can also use WASD or the Arrow keys, or swipe on a touch screen.

2

Trigger a warp burst

Click anywhere or press Space for a sudden burst of speed that streaks the stars, then decays back to your chosen setting. On mobile, tap the screen.

3

Open Settings

Click the gear icon in the corner to tune Speed (Drift to Hyperspace), Density, Star Size, the Color Theme, and toggles for steering, nebula, shooting stars, and sound.

4

Let it drift

Leave the app untouched for 5 seconds and the camera glides into a smooth figure-8 auto-drift, perfect as a screensaver. Any movement or key press hands control back to you.

Features

True 3D Starfield

Stars are positioned in 3D space and projected with perspective, so they grow and streak past you for a convincing flight through space.

Four Speed Modes

Glide from Drift to Cruise, Warp, and Hyperspace. At Warp and above, stars elongate into streaks for full warp-speed travel.

Warp Burst & Tunnel

Click or press Space for an instant warp burst. At high speed, glowing rings radiate from the center as a warp tunnel.

Mouse, Keyboard & Touch Steering

Aim the flight direction with your mouse, WASD or Arrow keys, or by swiping on a phone or tablet.

Density & Star Size

Set how many stars fill the sky, from Sparse to Ultra, and scale each star from a tiny pinpoint to a large, bright point.

Six Color Themes

Choose Classic White, Warm, Cool, Neon, Realistic mixed star colors, or a continuously cycling Rainbow.

Shooting Stars & Planets

Random meteors streak across the sky, and occasional planets and asteroids drift past with shading and Saturn-like rings.

Nebula & Parallax Depth

Toggle a colorful nebula overlay, while subtle parallax galaxy blobs shift opposite your mouse to deepen the scene.

Reactive Space Sound

Optional ambient audio is synthesized in your browser, with pitch and intensity rising with speed and a whoosh on each warp burst.

Auto-Drift Screensaver

After 5 seconds idle the camera traces a smooth figure-8 drift, ideal as a screensaver or ambient display until you interact again.

Vignette & Speed HUD

Dark cockpit-style edges intensify with speed, and a minimal HUD shows the current mode and velocity in km/s.

Settings Remembered

Your speed, density, theme, and toggles are saved to your browser, and the animation pauses when you switch tabs to save power.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the starfield / flying through space screensaver?

It is an interactive 3D space simulation that flies you through an endless field of stars. The stars rush toward you with perspective depth, recreating the classic "flying through space" screensaver effect right in your browser.

How do I make the stars fly toward me at warp speed?

Open Settings and raise the Speed slider toward Warp or Hyperspace to make the stars streak past you. For a quick boost at any setting, click anywhere or press Space to trigger a warp burst.

Can I run this starfield screensaver online without downloading anything?

Yes. Everything runs online in your browser with nothing to install. Open the page, optionally go fullscreen, and let it drift as an ambient screensaver.

How do I steer the starfield?

Move your mouse to aim the flight direction, since the vanishing point follows your cursor. You can also use WASD or the Arrow keys, or swipe on a touch device. To keep a fixed, centered view, turn off Mouse Steering in Settings.

How do I change the star count or speed?

Click the gear icon to open Settings. Use the Density slider to set how many stars fill the sky (Sparse to Ultra), the Star Size slider to scale them, and the Speed slider to choose Drift, Cruise, Warp, or Hyperspace.

How does the auto-drift screensaver work?

If you do not interact for 5 seconds, the camera begins a gentle figure-8 drift on its own, which makes it ideal as a screensaver or ambient display. Move your mouse, touch the screen, or press any key to regain manual control.

Is there sound, and will it slow down my device?

Enable Sound in Settings for synthesized ambient space audio generated in your browser with no audio files to download. The pitch and intensity rise with speed, and warp bursts add a whoosh. The starfield is optimized and automatically pauses when you switch tabs, so it stays smooth on most modern devices.

Are my settings saved, and does it work on mobile?

Yes to both. Your speed, density, color theme, and toggles are saved to your browser's local storage and restored when you return. On phones and tablets, swipe to steer and tap for a warp burst, and the Settings panel adapts to smaller screens.
