Frequently Asked Questions
How many players can I add?
There is no hard limit on the number of players. You can add as many as your game requires. The player cards arrange themselves in a responsive grid that adapts to your screen size.
Will my game be saved if I close the browser?
Yes. Score Keeper automatically saves your game state (players, scores, round number, history, timer, and game title) to your browser's local storage after every change. When you return, your game will be exactly where you left it.
How do I enter a specific score instead of using +1/-1?
Click directly on the score number displayed on any player card. A text input will appear where you can type the exact score value. Press Enter or click away to confirm.
What's the difference between "Reset Scores" and "New Game"?
When you click the reset button, you get two options:
Partial Reset
- Sets all player scores back to zero
- Clears history
- Keeps the same players and their colors
Complete Reset
- Removes all players
- Clears all scores and history
- Removes game title
- Fresh start from scratch
Can I use the timer independently from scoring?
Yes. The timer works independently. You can start, pause, and reset the timer without affecting any scores. It's useful as a standalone game timer even if you're keeping score mentally.
How does the countdown timer work?
Switch the timer to Countdown mode, then select a preset duration (1, 3, 5, or 10 minutes) or click Custom to enter your own time. Press play to start the countdown. When it reaches zero, you'll see a visual flash and receive a notification.
Can I change a player's name or color after adding them?
Yes. Click the menu icon (three dots) on any player card to see options for editing the player's name, changing their color, or removing them from the game.
How does the random picker work?
Click the Random button in the toolbar. The tool randomly selects one player from the current group and displays their name in a full-screen overlay. This is perfect for deciding who goes first or who gets the next turn.
Does this tool work on mobile devices?
Yes. Score Keeper is fully responsive. On mobile devices, the layout adjusts to a single column, buttons are sized for touch interaction, and the history panel appears as a bottom sheet instead of a sidebar.
