How many boxes fit on a standard 48×40 pallet?
It depends entirely on the carton size. Enter your box length, width, and height, then pick the US Standard (48×40″) preset. The calculator fills in the pallet dimensions and shows boxes per layer, the number of layers, and the total boxes per pallet for that exact box.
What is TI-HI on a pallet?
TI-HI describes a pallet pattern as two numbers: TI is the number of cartons in one layer (the tie), and HI is the number of layers stacked (the high). In this tool, Boxes per Layer is your TI and Layers is your HI, and multiplying them gives the total boxes per pallet.
How do you calculate cases per pallet?
Cases per layer is how many case footprints fit on the pallet surface, and total cases is that figure multiplied by the number of layers. The calculator does this for you — it tests different box orientations to maximize cases per layer, then applies your height and weight limits to set the final layer count.
What are standard pallet dimensions (GMA vs EUR)?
The North American GMA / US Standard pallet is 48×40 inches (about 121.92×101.6 cm). The European EUR pallet is 120×80 cm, and a common Asia pallet is 110×110 cm. All three are built-in presets, and you can use Custom for any other size.
How many layers can I stack on a pallet?
The number of layers is your Max Stack Height divided by the box height, rounded down. Enter the usable stacking height above the pallet surface as Max Stack Height. If you also set a box weight and Max Pallet Weight, the calculator reduces the layers further whenever weight becomes the limiting factor.
What is pallet space utilization?
Space utilization is the share of the pallet surface covered by box footprints in one layer, shown as a percentage. A value of 90% means cartons cover 90% of the surface and 10% is wasted edge space. Low utilization usually means a different box orientation or pallet size would pack tighter.
Why does rotating boxes change the result?
Turning a carton 90° changes how it fits against the pallet edges, so one orientation can pack more boxes per row or column. The calculator tests normal, rotated, and mixed layouts and keeps the best one. If your cartons must stay in a fixed "this side up" orientation, the real count may be lower than shown.
