Fake Virus Scanner for Harmless Pranks
The Fake Virus Scanner is a prank simulator that mimics a professional antivirus checking your computer, complete with scrolling file paths, randomly "detected" threats, and dramatic scan results. It never touches your real system, so it is safe for pranking a friend or just enjoying a convincing scan.
Pick one of three scan types, set the speed for more or less suspense, then run it normally or in fullscreen so it looks like a real security program has taken over the screen. The scanner streams realistic Windows file names, flags fake malware with severity levels, and ends with a summary you can "clean" in one click.
How to Use the Fake Virus Scanner

Pick Quick Scan (~30 seconds, up to 3 threats), Full Scan (~60 seconds, up to 6 threats), or Deep Scan (~90 seconds, up to 8 threats) depending on how dramatic you want it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the fake virus scanner actually scan my computer?
No. It is a purely visual simulation that never accesses, reads, or analyzes any files on your device. Every file path and threat name is randomly generated for entertainment only.
Is it safe, and can it harm my PC?
Yes, it is completely safe. The tool runs entirely in your browser with no system access, so it cannot install anything, modify files, or affect your computer in any way.
Are the detected threats real?
No. All threats are fake and randomly chosen from a built-in list of malware-style names. The number found is random per scan type, up to 3 for Quick, 6 for Full, and 8 for Deep, and a scan may also find zero threats.
How do I prank a friend with a fake virus scan?
Open the tool on their computer, pick a scan type, then click Fullscreen Scan so it fills the whole screen. Setting the speed to Slow adds suspense and makes the fake threats appear one by one for maximum effect.
How do I stop or exit the fake scan?
During a scan, click Stop to end it early and see the results so far. To leave fullscreen, press the Esc key or click New Scan to return to the setup screen.
Why is there no sound when threats are detected?
Make sure Sound alerts on threat detection is checked on the setup screen. Browsers also require a user interaction before playing audio, so clicking Start usually satisfies that requirement.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The interface is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets, and fullscreen mode runs on mobile browsers that support the Fullscreen API.
