Training Modes & Features
Shrinking Targets Mode
Targets appear and gradually shrink over time. You must click them before they disappear completely. This mode tests both your reaction speed and accuracy under pressure.
Speed Click Mode
Targets appear and stay on screen until you click them. No time pressure per target, allowing you to focus purely on clicking as fast as possible. Target sizes decrease with difficulty to add challenge.
- No time limit per target - they wait for you
- Focus entirely on speed and accuracy
- Ideal for beginners and warm-up sessions
- Progressive difficulty through smaller target sizes
Precision Mode
Tiny targets that require careful, accurate mouse control. Target sizes range from 28px (Easy) down to just 12px (Hard) - roughly the size of a period character. Ideal for training fine motor control and precise cursor placement.
28px Targets
- Comfortable size for learning
- Build confidence
- Focus on technique
12px Targets
- Extreme precision required
- Advanced skill level
- Maximum accuracy training
Difficulty Levels
Each training mode offers three difficulty settings that adjust target size and behavior to match your skill level:
Easy
Larger targets for beginners and warm-up sessions
- Comfortable target sizes
- Longer reaction windows
- Build foundational skills
Medium
Balanced challenge for regular practice
- Standard target sizes
- Moderate time pressure
- Ideal for daily training
Hard
Smallest targets for advanced users
- Minimal target sizes
- Maximum challenge
- Elite skill development

|---|---|---|---|
| ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Excellent | 95%+ | Under 400ms |

Frequently Asked Questions
Which mode should I start with?
Speed Click on Easy is the best starting point for beginners. It lets you focus on clicking targets without the pressure of them disappearing, allowing you to build confidence and develop basic accuracy.
Once you're comfortable hitting targets consistently, try Shrinking Targets to add time pressure and challenge yourself further.
How is the score calculated?
Each successful hit earns 100 base points plus a speed bonus. The faster you click after a target appears, the higher the bonus:
- Near-instant clicks: up to 100 bonus points
- Fast clicks (under 300ms): 50-100 bonus points
- Average clicks (300-600ms): 20-50 bonus points
- Slow clicks (over 600ms): minimal bonus
Misses don't subtract from your score but significantly lower your accuracy rating and star rating.
Can I stop a game in the middle?
Yes, absolutely. Click the stop button in the stats bar at any time during gameplay.
If you've already made some hits, you'll see your results screen with statistics for the partial session. If you haven't hit any targets yet, you'll return to the setup screen to start fresh.
How small are the targets in Precision Hard mode?
Precision Hard mode features targets that are just 12 pixels in diameter - roughly the size of a period character on your screen.
This is extremely challenging and designed specifically for users who want to push their accuracy and fine motor control to the absolute limit. Most users should work their way up through Easy and Medium difficulties first.
Is my progress saved?
Yes! Your last 20 sessions are automatically stored in your browser's local storage. This data persists across page reloads and browser sessions.
You can review your session history at any time to track improvement over time. The system will also notify you when you achieve a new personal best score in any training mode.
Does this work on mobile devices?
Yes, Click Trainer supports touch input on mobile devices. The game automatically goes full-screen during play, and the interface adapts to smaller screens for optimal usability.
However, the experience is optimized for mouse input on desktop computers. Mobile touch input can work well for casual practice, but serious training is best done with a mouse for precise cursor control and accurate reaction time measurement.
